So Apple finally set the date. The iPhone 17 Pro Max will hit the stage on September 9, 2025 during the “Awe Dropping” event at Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino. Pre-orders start September 12, and the phones land in stores by September 19.
Here is what we’ve heard so far.
Design and Display
Expect a new camera bar that spans the width of the back. Some leaks show a lighter aluminum chassis replacing titanium. There are five rumored color options, including bold choices like orange and dark blue.
The display is said to be a 6.9-inch Super Retina XDR OLED. Expect ProMotion 120 Hz refresh rate, improved scratch resistance, and anti-reflective coating.

Performance
Under the hood, the A19 Pro chip paired with 12 GB RAM brings a noticeable boost. A vapor chamber cooling system promises sustained performance.
Camera
Apple is leaning hard into camera upgrades. There could be three 48 MP rear cameras, likely including improved telephoto zoom possibly up to 8× optical on the Pro Max. The front camera could also get a big bump to 24 MP. Rumor mill even hints at 8K video, mechanical aperture, and dual-video recording features for creators.
Battery and Charging
Expect a thicker build to fit a larger battery. Reverse wireless charging might make the list. And battery technology could include Apple-built cells with better longevity. There are whispers of fast wired charging perhaps 35 W plus MagSafe and Qi-2 wireless support.
Software and AI
The phone will run iOS 26, complete with Apple’s latest AI features and a refreshed Liquid Glass interface .

Price and Availability
Price is not official yet. Rumors point to a bump possibly $1,249 for base storage . In India, sources estimate ₹1,64,990. European pricing may start around €950.
What this means
Here’s the thing. If you want the biggest camera, longest battery life, and most power Apple can pack, the iPhone 17 Pro Max looks like a real leap. More colors, better cooling, stunning display, and serious camera chops. Now it is a matter of seeing how it performs when it drops in September.
